MTI is proud to have supplied the 41 underground mining regulators used at Kidd Mine to keep miners safe, increase productivity and simultaneously provide significant electrical energy savings to Glencore.

Glencore estimates that this new underground mining ventilation control system provides approximately 25,000 megawatt-hours of electrical energy savings each year which represents upwards of $2,000,000.00 of savings per year for the company.

Kidd Mine is the world’s deepest base-metal mine below sea level, mining at 9600 feet with shaft bottom at 9889 feet. The mine also has the longest surface-to-bottom ramp in the world. Kidd Mine produces an average of 40,000 tonnes of copper and 70,000 of zinc annually. For the complete article click here

SUGAR LAND–November 6, 2014–Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)–Reciprocating engine generators are becoming increasingly popular power projects in North America. The generators are able to start quickly and avoid the power gaps that come with intermittent renewable sources, such as solar and wind. Industrial Info is tracking 30 reciprocating engine projects in North America that are scheduled to begin construction before 2016.

SUGAR LAND–October 21, 2014–Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)–In 2013, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power generation projects hit a 15-year low, with a 50% decline from the number of projects in 2012. However, combined-cycle projects are expected to increase 3.1% per year through 2038, according to a report from engineering firm Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kansas). Currently, Industrial Info is tracking 25 grassroot combined-cycle generation projects valued at more than $17 billion, and 32 combined-cycle generation plant additions, repowers or conversions, valued at more than $18 billion.

SUGAR LAND–September 24, 2014–Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)–Boosted by abundant mineral resources and government incentives, Quebec is becoming a major Canadian destination for power and mining projects. Industrial Info is tracking $736 million in active and unconfirmed projects that are set to kick off in the Canadian province in the fourth quarter of 2014, with almost all attributed to the Metals & Minerals, Power and Pharmaceutical industries.
